What is tartar and how to remove itEven if you brush and floss your teeth thoroughly at home, bacteria still exist in your mouth. They combine with carbohydrates and food particles to generate tooth plaque, a sticky film. This substance coats your teeth penetrating the gum line and clings to fillings and other implants. Plaque contains microorganisms that can eat away at tooth enamel, causing cavities. However, removing tartar regularly can help to avoid tooth decay and gum disease.

How does tartar form?

Tartar makes it hard to brush and floss which can lead to cavities and tooth decay. The formation above the gum line is causes damage to teeth and can lead to gum disease.
